Christopher Kelly

Chris is our latest ISA Certified Arborist and currently serves as the company’s Office Manager. His working experience as a manager/operator for a businesses in the Scranton area has helped Brown Hill Tree Co. achieve excellence in the areas of customer service, safety and accreditation with the Tree Care Industry Association. Chris is a graduate of Baptist Bible College. He is currently a member of the Penn-Del Chapter of ISA and a representative of the Lackawanna Home Builders Association.

Jonathan Brown

Jon is the president of Brown Hill Tree Co. His family’s roots run deep in the tree care industry and have been connected to the industry for over 45 years. He began doing tree work in 1996 with his brother Jeremy as a way to earn money for college. Jon is a graduate of Millersville University with a BS in Technology Education. He has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 2000 and became a Board-Certified Master Arborist in February of 2009. He has earned the credential of a Certified Tree Care Safety Professional through TCIA. Jon still says that his most important job is being a Dad to his five wonderful children.

Mary Pat Appel

Mary Pat, horticulturalist, ISA Certified Arborist and ISA Municipal Specialist joined Brown Hill Tree Co. as a plant health care specialist and arborist consultant. She received her education in Horticultural Technology in 2002 from Luzerne County Community College. While pursuing her degree she earned “The Outstanding Adult Learner” Award. She brings to the company 8 years of diagnostic experience from her previous work at Penn State Cooperative Extension. As part of the Penn State Master Gardener steering committee, Mary Pat was also responsible for updating training manuals and publications for Master Gardener training. She currently teaches educational workshops sponsored by Brown Hill Tree Co. Mary Pat created and wrote the horticulture newsletter called “Trowel and Leisure”, she received 2 awards of excellence for educational outreach on Integrated Pest Management. Additionally, she was the recipient of the 2007 Watershed Stewardship Award from the Luzerne Conservation District for her educational outreach on the development of rain gardens for storm-water management. She offers valuable experience to Brown Hill Tree Co. team and performs tasks such as IPM scouting, tree consultations, and appraisals.
